Cost Reduction Project Manager

Peterborough (PE1) - Hybrid once trained (3 days onsite/2 days WFH), 4 days onsite whilst training

12 Month Contract

Hours: 37 a week, 8:30 - 16:45 Mon - Thurs, 8:30 - 16:15 Fri

Up to £24.65 per hour PAYE / Up to £33.10 per hour via Umbrella contract

Our client is a world leader in the design, manufacture and support of a world class range of engines, they are looking to extend their Purchasing team in Peterborough; it’s a varied role with specific cost reduction projects (including engine cost reductions) and a chance to integrate with suppliers. You’ll also be responsible for the project initiative; managing multiple different teams to generate ideas, and get these ideas approved all the way through to execution!

What will the Cost Reduction Project Manager do?

  • Be a Project Leader, managing multiple projects, coordinating cross functional teams to successful execution
  • You’ll be responsible for the creation of Business Cases to be presented at Sourcing Council for business approval, either for Cost Reduction, or Assurance of Supply/Quality
  • You’ll work with all business functions (Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance) building strong business acumen required for this assignment
  • Upon project approval you will be responsible for launching and managing each project through to successful execution, ensuring commercial benefits, and seamless product launch

What skills and experience will the Cost Reduction Project Manager need?

  • Engine/Engineering background is desirable; Project management & interpersonal skills are key
  • 5 years minimum Project Manager experience is required, if no engine knowledge base
  • Leadership skills i.e. good interpersonal skills, confidence to direct team & execute plans
  • Strong presentation skills at all levels
  • Microsoft Office, you’ll plan and present out on information, so will need high proficiency in Excel, MS Project (or equivalent project planning tool)
  • Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate through examples, capabilities in project management, leadership, business acumen, good interpersonal skills, Business Process Improvement, Data Analytics, Negotiating, Matrix Management, Cost-Benefit Analysis, Category Management and Procurement experience
