Engine Validation Engineer

Peterborough, Hybrid Working - 3 days on site, 2 remote

Initial 6 month contract (likely to be extended)

PAYE and Umbrella rates discussed on application

Are you an experienced engineer passionate about ensuring the reliability and performance of cutting-edge engines? Join our client’s dynamic team and play a crucial role in validating and enhancing future of the engine systems!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validation Planning: Collate system and component validation plans (DVP – Design Verification Plan) based on risk assessments from DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis).
  • Project Management: Deliver end-to-end project management. Collaborate with engineering teams to specify test requirements, define engine build and instrumentation needs.
  • Testing Oversight: Manage a variety of testing methods, including:
  • Engine dyno testing (endurance, functional, cold ambient, gradeability, noise & vibration)
  • Machine testing (overseeing validation tests on internal machines)
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Work closely with test engineers to drive decision-making from engine data reviews and end-of-test inspections. Analyse test data to draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Timely Delivery: Ensure all activities are planned and delivered within agreed timelines. Document conclusions and recommendations upon test completion, complete reports, and update DFMEAs with findings.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering or a STEM field.
  • Demonstrated experience in engine or machine development (or similar).
  • Proven experience working in cross-functional teams to define test requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot build and test issues, working closely with component owners and test engineers to ensure validation test sign-off.
  • Ability to analyse engine data and use it to drive business decisions with clear, concise conclusions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
